NUMC & Homesteads Collecting Health Kits For Haiti
The Homesteads at Newtown has partnered with Newtown United Methodist Church to collect supplies and build health kits for Haiti.
The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) has issued an urgent request for Health Kits for those people affected by the earthquake in Haiti. The following items are requested, and residents can donate everything for a kit or any combination of items they can come up with.
Each kit will contain:
*one hand towel (15 by 25 inches and up to 17 by 27 inches; no kitchen towels);
*one washcloth;
*one comb (large and sturdy, not pocket-sized);
*one nail file or fingernail clippers (no emery boards or toenail clippers);
*one bath-size bar of soap (3 oz and up);
*one 1 toothbrush (single brushes only in original wrapper; no child-size brushes);
*six adhesive plastic strip sterile bandages; and
*$1 to purchase toothpaste.
All items must be new and only specifically requested items will be allowed in the kits. The Homesteads at Newtown, located at 166 Mt Pleasant Road, will be the drop off location for all items.
The kits will be packed up at The Homesteads. Volunteers are welcomed to assist residents with the assembly of kits.
