State Police Investigate

Garner Prison Incident

State police said  they responded to Garner Correctional Institution, the state’s high-security prison at 50 Nunnawauk Road, about 9:30 pm on January 27 to investigate an incident involving an inmate and a correction officer.

State police said the unidentified inmate allegedly threw a cup of liquid, which is believed to be urine, onto the 56-year-old male correction officer, striking the officer with the liquid on the upper torso and left arm.

The correction officer was not injured, state police said. The incident is under investigation.
