The following students were named to the Marist College, Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Dean’s List for the fall 2009 semester: Class of 2011, Joseph C. Rahtelli of Sandy Hook, business administration, finance emphasis; Class of 2012, Meghan E. Barbour, communications/public relations, Kerry A. McDonald of Sandy Hook, psychology special education, and Daniel R. Rahmlow of Sandy Hook, business administration; Class of 2013, Elizabeth D. O’Brien, psychology special education, Emily L. Proudfoot, biomedical sciences, and Kelley A. Sullivan, undeclared.

In New London at Connecticut College, Stephen Dworkin and Elizabeth Maret were named on the Dean’s Honors list for the 2009 fall semester, and Mary Gover was named the college’s Dean’s High Honors list. Dean’s Honors recognizes students who have earned a grade point average of at least 3.3, and Dean’s High Honors recognizes students who have earned a grade point average of at least 3.7 on a 4.0 scale.

Katherine Kelleher of Sandy Hook was named to the fall 2009 Dean’s List of the Academic Center for Exploratory Students at the University of Connecticut in Storrs.

Brittany Pasko, daughter of Ann Lindenmeyer of Newtown and Lawrence Pasko of Danbury, and Jennifer L. Spanedda, daughter of Peter and Debra Spanedda of Sandy Hook, were named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2009 term at Endicott College, in Beverly, Mass. To qualify, a student must obtain a minimum grade point average of 3.5, receive no grades below a “C,” and must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits for the semester.

Patrick Stein of Sandy Hook was named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2009 semester at High Point University, in High Point, N.C. Dean’s List students at the university are recognized for attaining a 3.5 grade point average for the previous semester based on a 4.0 scale.

Claire Zukowski was recently inducted into the Phi Bete Kappa society, which recognized the top two percent of a graduating class in Claire’s round of the inductions at Columbia College at Columbia University in New York City. Selection for the Phi Beta Kappa society is based on the student’s grade point average and faculty recommendations.

Gettysburg College students with a quality point average of 3.33 or higher for a semester’s work are placed on the Deans’ Commendation List, and both Hannah Tenenbaum and Brian Tenney, a renior, from Sandy Hook were named on the Fall 2009 list.

Jillian Spies, a first-year student environmental sciences major in the Rubenstein School of Environment & Natural Resources, and Alanna Gilbert, a Sandy Hook resident and a first-year student English major in the College of Arts & Sciences, at the University of Vermont in Burlington were named to the fall 2009 semester’s Dean’s List. To be named to the Dean’s Lists, students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or better and rank in the top 20 percent of their class in their respective college or school.

Victoria Cardoso of Sandy Hook was named to the Dean’s List from the State University of New York College at Oneonta for the fall 2009 semester. To qualify, undergraduate students must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher while carrying a course load of 12 semester hours or more.
