Womenâs Heart Health Fair
 At St Vincentâs
BRIDGEPORT â In recognition of February as National Heart Month, St Vincentâs Medical Center is hosting its first-ever Womenâs Heart Health Fair on Friday, February 13, from 9 am to 3 pm, in the main lobby of the medical center.
The event, sponsored by St Vincentâs Women at Heart Club, is open to the general public, and will feature many free screenings and activities related to heart health, as well as refreshments and giveaways.
âThe goal of this event is to raise awareness among area women on how they can prevent heart disease, a disease that poses a very real risk to their health,â said Linda Russell, RN, director of Employee/Occupational Health, and Womenâs Heart Health Fair coordinator.
Ms Russell said heart disease is the number one killer of women in the United States, and one in two women in the country dies of heart disease or stroke.
The Heart Health Fair seeks to inform women of the many ways they can greatly reduce their risk of developing heart-related problems, including learning about their personal risk factors and by making healthful changes in their diet, physical activity, and other daily habits. Those with heart disease can learn how to take steps to lessen its severity.
Parking is $1 for the day. No registration is necessary. For more information on the fair, call St Vincentâs toll-free Care Line at 877-255-SVHS (7847).
