Richard V. Osborn

WWII and Korean   Conflict Veteran

Richard V. Osborn, 83, a longtime resident of Redding, died February 8 in Norwalk Hospital after a short illness. He was the husband of Barbara L. Osborn.

Mr Osborn was born in Watertown, N.Y., July 21, 1922, a son of Richard O. and Irene Cowen Osborn.

In addition to his wife of 52 years, survivors include his children, Mark Osborn of Newtown, Jock Osborn of Bethel, Kip Osborn of Rupert, Vt., Jane Osborn-Shroyer and Cindy Jarvis, both of Redwood City, Calif.; and one brother, Hugh C. Osborn of Delton, Mich. He also leaves behind three grandsons, Niles Shroyer of Port Townsend, Wash., and Dana and Alex Shroyer of Redwood City, Calif.

He graduated from Clarkson College in Pottsdam, N.Y., as a chemical engineer. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict, having served in the US Army as a combat engineer and honorably discharged with the rank of captain.

Mr Osborn was employed in the paper manufacturing industry retiring as vice president of Fraser Paper Company. In his retirement, he pursued his hobbies of woodworking and tool collecting.

Services and interment are to be private.

Arrangements are by the Bouton Funeral Home, 31 West Church Street in Georgetown.
