Boys 6th
New Milford 56, Newtown 42 â Newtown started slow, but rallied late to get in the game. Anthony Berarducci (12 points) and Taylor Steimle (10 points) powered the offense as the locals played tough defense to create turnovers and convert into points to stay close. But Newtown couldnât get the shots to fall in the fourth quarter and New Milford pulled away.
Ridgefield 45, Newtown 24 â Trey Trudell canned six points, but Newtown struggled to find its range, turned the ball over, and fell to Ridgefield. Erik Samuelson and Mason West were strong on defense.
Boys 5th
Newtown 34, Westport 20 â Coaches Feinstein and Elliott did not have to follow through with their threats of pizza with anchovies at a post game party if the Hawks lost to a tough Westport team. Gavin Scallon led Newtown with 10 points, while Nick Gerbo (eight points), David Gerics (six points, three steals), Sean Elliott (three points, three steals) and Pieter Martino (four points) rounded out the scoring. Reid Schmidt turned in a strong defensive performance, registering four steals.
Newtown 32, Southbury 24 â A late Newtown surge put this game away and ran the Hawksâ winning streak to five games. Dan Hebert led the way on offense and defense with 10 points and four steals and Gavin Scallon had a big defensive game with 14 rebounds and four blocks. Sam Ashey (three points, four rebounds) and Conner Quinn (five points, five rebounds) both played well during the decisive fourth quarter run. Jake Feinstein (two steals, assist, block) and David Gerics (five points) were both strong in the backcourt for the Hawks.
Newtown 39, New Fairfield 15 â Wyatt DePuy netted six points and hauled down six rebounds in a strong effort that helped run the Hawksâ streak to six wins in a row. Conner Quinn (10 points), Dan Hebert (six points, three steals), Sean Elliott (two steals, three rebounds, assist) and Nick Gerbo (six points) all had outstanding games for Newtown. As a reward for their recent hard work and team play, the young Hawks were treated to a practice session with the Newtown junior varsity and varsity teams. Coach John Quinn and his players put the boys through a series of advanced drills.
Girls 5th
Fairfield 34, Newtown 30 â Stephanie Roman scored eight points and Meaghan Harkins added five, but the Attack fell short against Fairfield. Bridget Power dished off five assists and Julia Trudell had six rebounds. Clare Miles contributed three blocks while Tressa Scott made three steals.
Wilton 15, Newtown 9 â Maddy Good and Catie Yakush led the offense as Samantha Steimle made two steals and Kristiana Engler dished off two assists. Brittany Tolla had four steals while Erin Kenning grabbed six rebounds.

Junior Boys
Bullets 54, Wildcats 45 â Matt Baier scored 14 points and Xhulio Halili dished off six assists to leads the Bullets to the win. Tyler Covert and Ryan Korth played well. For the âCats, John Fracker dropped in 17 points as Rockwell Anyoha pulled down 10 rebounds. Brad Biscoe and Ben Murphy had solid floor games.
Rockets 42, Huskies 32 â Shane Wurtz poured in 21 points and Ben Mahony added nine more to lead the Rockets past the Huskies. Ryan Powers and Mitch Udiskey played well on D. For the Huskies, Kyle OâConnor and Chris Winters combined for 15 points while Thomas DiLuoffo played well.
Huskies 41, Saints 31 â Kyle OâConnor canned 13 points and Mike Tobin contributed eight as the Huskies earned the win. Alex Saviano played well. For the Saints, Kevin OâConnell had 10 points as Will Arndt and Tom Capozziello played well.
Eagles 48, Red Devils 38 â Max Paynter had a game-high 22 points as Mike Herring tossed in seven points and grabbed six rebounds to lead the Eagles to the win. Owen Swain had four points and four rebounds as Trevor Todd dropped in eight points. For the Devils, Jeff DiNicola canned 16 points while Eric McCabe grabbed eight boards. Joe Fedak and Oliver Powers popped in 10 points apiece.
Knicks 32, Celtics 31 â Eric Thornberg scored 10 points and Brendan Blawie added six as the Knicks trimmed the Celtics. Josh Volpe had a strong floor game. For the Celtics, Dan Greenwood and Ryan Pasko combined for 13 points as Dan Hansen and Joe Pieretti played well.
Deamon Deakins 38, Orangemen 34 â Nick Tarantino popped in 15 points and Tory Deakin added 12 to power the Deakins to the win. Brian Grimes, Austin Jones (eight rebounds) and Christian Gregoire played well. For the Orange, George Primavera scored 10 points and Greg Campbell added seven as Matt Dos Santos had a solid floor game.
Hawkeyes 40, Jaspers 33 â Tucker Schmidt poured in 19 points as the Hawkeyes overcame the Jaspers. Tom Mascher (six points) and Eric Hoffman (four steals) played well. For the Jaspers, Adam Buccino popped in 13 points while Alex Martens and Jeff Keating played well.

Da Bears 21, Blue Angels 14 â Kristy Papaj and Jessica Gibbons combined for 15 points and Suzanne Wright brought down seven rebounds to lead Da Bears to the win. Amanda Stanton made five steals. For the Angels, Mareena Mallory scored four points as Emily Peters, Nicole Davis (five steals) and Erin Bell (seven rebounds) played well.
Orange Crush 28, Liberty 17 â Madeline Keane canned 20 points to power the Crush against the Liberty. Courtney Escoda, Ashley Cirone and Ellyn Gordon all played well. For the Liberty, Jade Mather popped in five points as Katie Fossum (four assists), Natalie Galante (three steals) and Sarah Read (five rebounds) played well.
Knicks 47, Huskies 24 â An amazing double-double by Kelly Gaston (28 points, 15 rebounds) and a strong effort from Nicole Rotante (10 points, seven rebounds) propelled the Knicks to an easy win over the Huskies. Eria Krosen made six steals. For the Huskies, Lexi Black canned 14 points as Emily Cannavo, Stephanie Zamary and Erin Dlouhy (eight rebounds) played well.
Regulators 22, Huskies 20 â Emma Herring popped in 16 points as the Regulators clipped the Huskies. Kiely Kuligowski made five steals while Stephanie Perrotti and Alison Kron had fine performances. For the Huskies, Lindsay Jossick and Lexi Black tossed in eight points apiece as Lia Tassinari blocked six shots and Jenna Poeltl grabbed eight rebounds.
Suns 35, Gaels 12 â Lauren Sarna and Stefanie Clavette canned 12 points apiece and Jessica Haitz added seven to lead the Suns to the win. Jackie Kissack was solid off the glass while Kyra Middeleer and Sarah Stofko provided strong defensive pressure. For the Gaels, Jane Sclafani, Courtney Tenney, Keri Chernoff, Marian Blawie and Anna Hodge had fine floor games.

Regulators 32, Hurricanes 26 â Bubba Leblanc canned 17 points as the Regulators earned the win. Mike Lord, Matt Vavrek and Mike Vabner played well. For the âCanes, Mike LoBosco had 13 points.
Thunder 26, Huskies 25 â Ben Stoller and Shaun Mangold combined for 10 points, with Stoller dropping in the game-winning basket to lead the Thunder past the Huskies. Matt Spencer, Kaleb Rowe and JP Kitzmiller had strong floor games. For the Huskies, Sean Burson poured in 16 points while Jack McManus and Francis Afriyie played well.
Blue Knights 42, Vipers 24 â Rich Sandler dropped in eight points to power the Knights. Tom Stewart, Stephen Dullinger and Mike Senf played well. For the Vipers, Jeff Grasso canned 10 points as Kurt Daum and Mac Morlock had fine performances.
Nighthawks 30, Panthers 28 â Sean Ross popped in 16 points as the âHawks trimmed the Panthers. Christian Mather, Hunter Low and Cole Baldino played well. For the Panthers, Keegan Lombard netted 12 points while Austin Ekstrom, Pat Riccardi and Dean Linquist played well.
Knicks 26, Raptors 13 â Peter Kerns scored 10 points and Matt Rahtelli, Tim McGrath and Jimmy Russo all had fine floor games to lead the Knights to the win. For the Raptors, Tim Eames had five points as Nick Sajovic and Robbie Hughes played well.
Grizzlies 56, Rockets 35 â Jake Enriquez poured in 21 points and Justin DeVellis added 17 more as the Grizzlies turned on the gas and burned the Rockets. Pat Capozziello, Kyle Buckley and Josh Villa had fine floor games. For the Rockets, Troy Larsen canned five points while Harrison Snellback, Stephen Rahr and Chris DeVaney played well.
Bears 29, Bullets 26 â Greg Frattarolli popped in eight points to lead the Bears to the three-point win. John Mooney, Devin DiNicola and Scott Schmidt played well. For the Bullets, Michael Lengel canned nine points while Kevin Shpunt, Sam Langdon and Pat Zingaro had strong games.
Blazing Warriors 32, Spurs 30 â Colin Cooper scored 14 points to lead the Warriors past the Spurs. Michael Daubert, Eric Song and Mike Scharfenberg played well. For the Spurs, Colin Morris canned 12 points while Brandon Marks, Scott Keating and Ryan Palmer had strong floor games.
Thunder 37, Vipers 34 â Ben Stoller and Ryan Dunnigan canned eight points apiece to lead the Thunder to the win. Dunnigan canned a pair of shots in the final 47 seconds as the Thunder rallied from a one-point deficit. Chris Ericson, JP Kitzmiller and Justin Cherry had fine performances. For the Vipers, Kyle Harrington (whose shot with 47 seconds left put his team on top, 34-33) had 10 points as Jeff Grasso, Robbie Russo and Mac Morlock played well.

Wildcats 16, Mighty Chicks 11 â Cassie Ekstrom had a game-high 14 points to help the Wildcats remain undefeated. Fresh off a sleepover, Dale Shearin and Kate Butera played well on D. For the Chicks, Jessica Principi and Kelly OâConnor each had a bucket while Claire Alexander made three steals and Taylor Zingaro grabbed five rebounds. Carly Sullivan had a good floor game.
Wildcats 11, Lady Vols 2 â Cassie Ekstrom popped in seven points as Jacklyn Daily and Lindsay Jagoe played well to lead the Wildcats. For the Vols, Karly Ferris had a bucket as Megan Foy, Daisy Young and Shaina Stamp played well.

Blue Devils 31, Runninâ Raiders 27 â Colton Smith netted eight points as Nick Klein, Trey DeWald and Julian Dunn played well to lead the Devils. For the Raiders, Drew Tarantino canned 12 points as Jack Benedict, Brendan Peterson and Tim Kelly had strong games.
Yellowjackets 20, Celtics 12 â Matt White and Troy Frangione combined for 11 points to power the âJackets. Jack Martin and Jeff Peterson played well. For the Celtics, Jonah Muniz and Patrick Rawley tossed in four points apiece while Adam Harrison and Justin Weiner had solid floor games.
Huskies 25, Knicks 21 â Matt Hoyt popped in nine points to power the Huskies to the win. Nate Steinbrey, Dan Cummings and Stephen Anderau played well. For the Knicks, Otto Kerler canned seven points as Ryan Durr and Grant Larnerd were solid.
Nighthawks 23, Cavaliers 12 â Chase Wurtz dropped in 12 points as the Nighthawks soared to the win. Michael Dinelli, Ty Runkle and Luca Imbimbo played well. For the Cavs, Jimmy Leidlein popped in six points while Joe Anastasi, Greg Ladestro and Jason Horowitz had solid floor games.
