DANBURY — Joint replacement surgeons affiliated with The Center for Advanced Orthopedic and Spine Care at Danbury Hospital, a dedicated orthopedic center devoted to full-service patient care, cordially invites the public to attend a community health and wellness program on Wednesday, February 24, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

The program, “Put Your Bones to the Test,” takes place in the Gerard D. Robilotti Conference Center at Danbury Hospital. Park free in the Blue Visitor’s Parking Lot, Hospital Avenue entrance.

Featured speakers will be orthopedic surgeons John Dunleavy, MD, and Ross Henshaw, MD, and physical therapist Kelly Barbaris. Sanjay Gupta, MD will facilitate the evening program.

“Put Your Bones to the Test” will address the latest surgical advances in total hip and total shoulder replacement surgery using proven, minimally invasive procedures that promise a quicker recovery time.

The program also discusses what physical therapy and rehabilitation options are available following a hospital stay.

A prize giveaway drawing, program-focused materials, and light refreshments will be provided.

In other news, Danbury Hospital’s “Spirit of Women Day of Dance” will be held Saturday, February 27, from noon to 4 pm, at the Danbury Fair Mall in Center Court (lower level). With the theme “Dance Your Health Out!” in recognition of National Heart Month, the heart-healthy day is filled with upbeat musical entertainment and dance styles that have been popular through the decades, including: ballroom, Latin, country, and more.

A variety of health and wellness information and screenings also will be offered and dedicated to your good health.

“Danbury Hospital’s Spirit of Women Day of Dance focuses on promoting cardiovascular health by reinforcing awareness of the dangers of heart disease,” said Denise Cocozza, coordinator of Danbury Hospital’s Spirit of Women program. “The event offers education on prevention, a variety of health screenings, and showcases dance as a fun way to exercise and be active.”

Danbury Hospital’s “Dance Your Health Out!” also features healthy nutritional tips and food demonstrations by Celebrity Chef George Stella, a professional chef for more than 25 years, who has appeared on numerous television and news shows. The chef, now a bestselling author and motivational speaker who once weighed in at 465 pounds, will share his very personal and inspirational weight loss story.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to ask the cardiovascular experts from Danbury Hospital’s Praxair Regional Heart and Vascular Center about ways individuals can take action to be heart smart and improve health and wellness.
