Second Company Governor’s Horse Guard Goes Hollywood

The Second Company Governor’s Horse Guard (2GHG) is the subject of a documentary by a production team from Comcast Cable. Producer Ken Fay and director of photography Mike Fay produced a 17-minute video documenting the missions, goals, and experiences of the 2GHG troopers and mounts.

The documentary can be viewed by going to www.thehorseguard.org and clicking on a link to YouTube (Part One is at www.youtube.com/watch?v=En2Twh1oJi4 and Part Two is at www.youtube.com/watch?v=0645memdXe0). It can also be viewed on Comcast On Demand through March 5 by going to Get Local and clicking on Comcast Town. It will also soon be available on Charter Cable’s Channel 21. Copies can be ordered via email, publicaffairs@thehorseguard.org.

The Fay brothers joined 2GHG troopers at annual training in August, and also attended the fall open house and Battalion Review.

The video provides a look at the organization, the troopers and mounts, and features interviews with Commander Major Gordon Johnson, training NCO First Sergeant Paul Mazzara, Horse Officer Second Lieutenant Jennifer Mazzara, and therapeutic riding instructor Second Lieutenant Cindy Joyce. It shows the troop performing drills, and participating in parades and ceremonies.

Upcoming 2GHG events include participation in three St Patrick’s Day Parades in Stamford (March 13), New Haven (March 14), and Greenwich (March 21); and Powder House Day in New Haven on April 25. The Annual Pleasure Ride is scheduled for May 8, and volunteer training for 2GHG’s therapeutic riding program will be on Tuesday evening, March 31

Check the website at www.thehorseguard.org for updates on events. Commander Johnson said that 2GHG troopers thank the Fay brothers “for an incredible effort and success in portraying the troop and mounts in the best of light. We remain, ‘Ready to Serve.’”
