T-Shirt Contest To Benefit Skate Park

By Kendra Bobowick

Her email makes the appeal, “Share it, print it, post it; whatever you can do to get the word around town!” Donate to Skate Chairman Erin Heneghan sent out the email last week announcing the February 15 kick-off of Donate to Skate’s 20l0 Threads To Shred T-Shirt Design Contest.

An attached flyer, which she hopes recipients will pass along, says, “Anyone can submit a design!” The winner will have a design printed on T-shirts to be sold as a Donate to Skate as a fundraiser.

The contest runs through March 24, “so put on your creative caps and come up with a design that’ll draw attention to the cause!” she wrote in her email.

With a final word she said, “Remember, this contest is … about raising money for the Skate Park … Continuing to raise money is a must if we want that to happen.  We’ve come a long way, let’s keep the momentum going…”  The park is in the design stage and Parks & Recreation is looking to break ground in the spring.

Contest Rules:

Designs should be black and white only. Designs should be 8.5 by 11 (vertical  orientation). Digital designs should be print quality at 300 dpi or more. Hand drawn art should be scanned into the highest quality photo format for submission via email. If you do not have a scanner or have access to a scanner, contact erin@donatetoskate.com for assistance.

Design must incorporate each of the following three items, clearly visible and readable: Donate to Skate, Supported by Newtown Parks & Recreation, and Donatetoskate.com.

The instructions continue, “Be creative — the design must attract attention to Skate Park fundraising!”

No foul language or visuals.

Send submissions to Erin@DonateToSkate.com no later than Wednesday, March 24.

The winner will be announced on March 31. Contact Erin@donatetoskate.com with questions.
