*The last time OLD SCHOOL played at Proud Maryâs (just a few weeks ago), I understand the place was standing room only all night for Tony Summo and Lou Bellofatto. Letâs see if we can do the same thing when the guys return, which will be Saturday, February 27.
Tony and Lou also have dates set up for the lounge at 19 Main Street in Newtown on March 12 and March 27.
*The NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK show at the MGM Grand Theater on May 21 has sold out.
Fans can rejoice, however, to learn that a second show has been added at the Mashantucket venue on Saturday, May 22, at 8 pm. Tickets have already gone on sale (sorry, notice from the casino last week was after deadline), priced at $55 to $75.
*Meanwhile, tickets for THE FRAY, who will be in Mashantucket on April 25, are going on sale this morning (February 19), priced at $40 and $60.
*One of pop musicâs most actively touring artists will bring his own take on a Storytellers concert to The Klein Memorial Auditorium in Bridgeport on April 4.
Tickets for a BEN FOLDS solo concert â just Folds and his piano, actually â have been put on sale through Fairfield Theatre Company, priced at $37.50. Visit FairfieldTheatre.com for details and tickets.
Kate Miller-Heidke will be opening.
*Also just announced this week by Fairfield Theatre Company is a March 14 show by Blues Hall of Fame inductee and 2007 Grammy Award winner David âHoneyboyâ Edwards, with special guest Rocky Lawrence, and an April 1 co-headlining event featuring The Duke Robillard Band and Johnny A.
Both shows will take place on FTCâs StageOne, and tickets for both are $47.
Fourth generation musician JESSE RUBEN will return to the theaterâs StageOne on March 5, and tickets for that show are $15.
*Tom DeLoughâs ANGELS & AIRWAVES has been scheduled to perform one of the special âunder the domeâ shows this spring at The Oakdale in Wallingford. Tickets for the May 8 show will be going on sale February 19 (this morning), but I canât seem to locate the ticket prices themselves. Visit LiveNation.com Friday morning or after for those details, I suppose.
And a reminder that AVA released its latest album, LOVE, on Valentineâs Day, and free downloads of what I already think is a very good album are available at AngelsAndAirwaves.com.
Until next week, Iâll be seeing you⦠on the road, where I will continue to wonder why at least two of our local television stations (WTNH and FOX-61) continue to call the cameramen and women who shoot video (or the digital equivalent) to accompany news stories photographers. Theyâre not shooting photos. Theyâre shooting video.
They arenât photographers. Theyâre videographers. Their cameras shoot video or digital, not still photos.
Yet the news reports continue to run with credits that say âReported by So-and-Soâ and âPhotography by So-and-So,â and thatâs just wrong. I donât go around calling myself a videographer, after all.
Any thoughts? Anyone?Â
