WCSU To Offer Spring Semester Of Artist Lectures
DANBURY â This spring, Western Connecticut State University will feature a slide lecture series by distinguished artists. The talks will start at 11 am in Viewing Room 1 of White Hall, at the corner of White Street and Fifth Avenue on the universityâs midtown campus. The public is invited to all of the lectures, free of charge.
On Tuesday, February 23, Susan Jane Walp, will open the spring series. Ms Walp, a Mount Holyoke College graduate, is a recipient of the Academy Award in Art from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Her still lifes and paintings have been prolifically displayed in New York. Since 2003, she has been represented by the Tibor de Nagy Gallery in New York.
Michael Whelan will present the next lecture, on Tuesday, March 9. A fantasy and science fiction artist, Mr Whelan has illustrated more than 350 book and album covers for Stephen King, Meat Loaf, the Jacksons, Isaac Asimov and National Geographic. He is the recipient of 15 Hugo Awards and has been inducted to the Science Fiction Hall of Fame.
Additional guest artists will be Don Kimes on March 31, and David Johnson on April 12.
