Honoring Schneider

To The Editor,

I am writing to honor the life and quiet legacy of Ingrid Schneider, owner of Villarina’s Pasta Shop, a woman whose generosity and warmth left a lasting imprint on the Newtown community.

Ingrid was one of those rare people whose kindness you felt the moment you walked through the door — welcoming, sincere, and truly beautiful inside and out. Ingrid gave so much to so many, often behind the scenes, never seeking recognition. Her belief in community, creativity, and supporting others was woven into everything she did.

This spring, I am working alongside several small businesses Ingrid proudly supported through her shop — including Ferris Acres Creamery and WrenHouse Atelier — to organize a gathering in her honor. With a date still to be determined, the intention is simple: to celebrate Ingrid’s life, her generosity, and the meaningful connections she fostered among local makers and neighbors, while also supporting the Faith Food Pantry, a cause she generously and quietly contributed to for many years.

As a small business owner, her encouragement meant more than she likely ever knew. In December, Ingrid graciously hosted a pop-up for me, and we shared a sense of excitement about what felt like the beginning of a meaningful creative partnership. She believed deeply in collaboration and in lifting others up, and she did so with quiet grace.

I will forever be grateful for her kindness, her encouragement, and the opportunity to work alongside her, even briefly. Newtown has lost a truly special soul, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
