Girls 6th Travel
Bethel 28, Newtown 25 â Danielle Shine had 10 points, 11 rebounds, and 9 blocks in Sundayâs game, but it wasnât enough to hold off a late-game surge by Bethel. Jessie Principi had a season-high 13 rebounds, Mary Joe Rossi and Kerry Scallon each scored 4 points, Jenny Indelicato added 3, and Amanda Cirella had a basket in the defeat. Hope McMorran played strong defense for Newtown.
Junior Boys
Nighthawks 46, Nuggets 35 â Cameron McLeary had 10 points and Jon Hull added 7 points. Kaleb Rowe grabbed 8 rebounds for the Nighthawks. Mike Lobosco dropped in 14 points, while Scott Schmidt had 4 block shots and 8 points. David Cartisano and Devin DiNicola played well defensively for the Nuggets.
Maulers 51, Bears 36 â J. Devellis led the Maulers with 22 on the board while P.J. Hickey tossed 7 assists, and Christian Mather grabbed 6 steals. Kevin Phillips popped in 10 points with 6 assists by Mike Greenwood, while defensively 6 steals were grabbed by Alex Roche and 8 rebounds by Trevor Carey for the Bears.
Vipers 49, Statesmen 45 â Dan Poetl scored 21 points and Jeff Grasso added 13 points. Luke Sherwood was the rebound leader for the Vipers. Cole Baldino canned 15 points, while Graham Derrickson had 4 assists. Chris Erikison grabbed 3 steals and Peter Kerns grabbed 5 rebounds for the Statesmen.
Junior Girls
Suns 39, Liberty 25 â Throwing in 10 points each and leading the Suns were Rachel Wiberg and Jessica Haitz. Emily Nacewicz had 5 assists and Courtney Tenney grabbed 6 steals and 8 rebounds. Emma Herring dropped in 12 points and Nicole Escoda added 6 points. Leading Liberty defensively were Julie LaPerch, Amanda Stanton, and Colleen Cosgrove.
Hawks 40, Rebels 37 â Lydia Bieter led all scorers with 19, Molly Emmerthal ripped down 9 rebounds and scored 6 in the win for the Hawks. Linda He and Caitlyn Gibney had all around good games. The Rebels, led by Jessica Gibbons, made a huge 15-point comeback only to come just short. Sarah Hasselberger popped in 8 points.
Knicks 40, Mercury 22 â Kelly Gaston led an all around team effort with a double-double. She popped in 14 points, had 4 assists, and grabbed 15 rebounds. Carley and Nicole and excellent offensive and defensive efforts for the Knicks. Kristen Grabowski dropped in 10 points. Shradha Sahani and Heather Leone played well on both ends of the court. Katherine Lotrecciano grabbed 5 rebounds for Mercury.
Da Bears 26, Huskies 16 â Lindsey Jossick canned 12 points and Julia Trudell popped in 7 points. Leading the defense for Da Bears were Katie Fossum, Luiza, and Kyra Middeleer. Kristy Engler drove in 6 points and Jill Moller added 4 points. Leading defense for the Huskies were Alex DeWolfe, Jenny Davies, and Michaela Beaudry.
Intermediate Boys (5th)
Bulldogs 40, Heat 33 â Max Rucinski popped in 13 points and 6 rebounds. Will Dalton and Eric Gibbons combined for 16 points and 9 rebounds and Jason Ferrari popped in 6 points and 6 rebounds. Carrino and Rucinski led a solid defensive effort against the high scoring Heat. Connor Lemay and Charlie Hueg combined for 15 points. Kaj Djonne (4 assists), Albert Dean (5 steals), and Ryan Szalay (7 rebounds) played aggressive defense for Heat.
Celtics 32, Bulldogs 23 â In the second game of double header, Andrew King had an awesome game to lead the Celtics to victory against the high scoring Bulldogs. Will Swain popped in 8 points. Tommy Rohr (6 points) also had his best game of the season, while Christian Hoffman with 4 assists and David Csordas with 3 steals were defensive standouts. After being down by 14 points, the Bulldogs staged a valiant comeback but came up short. Adam Isreal and Kyle McGrath combined for 10 points. Defensive standouts were Jared Tannenbaum and Carl Whippie.
Knicks 28, Wildcats 16 â Harry Dupuy led the Knicksâ offense with 18 points. Scott Gregson (5 steals), Noah Velush Rogers (5 rebounds), and Sean McCafferty (3 assists) led a great defensive team effort. Peter Manfredonia and Patrick Berger combined for 14 points. Robby Schreiber played very aggressively on both ends. Matt Hess and Deegan Beauchemin played well against a surging Knicks team.
Scorpions 29, Supersonic Pumpkins 27 â Nick Cirone (12 points), Brian Raab (4 points), and Trevor Lopez led the scoring frenzy to the Scorpions first win. Colton Moroney grabbed 20 steals and Curtis Giles 5 rebounds. Joe Santella popped in 9 points for the Supersonic Pumpkins. A great team effort and pressing defense.
Twisters 36, Rockets 34 â David Matthews and Jared Devellis combined for 21 points. Sawyer Conrad had 4 assists and Kevin Ovendorf had 6 steals. Twisters played great team defense and Devellisâs clutch free throws iced the game. Bobby Archiere and James Burdette combined for 27 points in a well played game. Archiere grabbed 10 rebounds and Burdette 4 steals. Jeremy Fellin handed out 5 assists in the loss.
Intermediate Boys (6th)
Huskies 47, And One 35 â Tommy Gleason led the offense with 26 points and Angel Santos added 11 points. Jacob Moore (4 assists) and Dan Winn (4 steals) played great âDâ for the Huskies. Kalra popped in 15 points, Swanson, 9 points and Brindley 6 points for And One. Compelling offense and defense on both ends of the court.
Suns 30, Celtics 25 â Tim Kelly and Shay Demarche combined for 19 points. Great defensive play on the floor from Greg Ladestro with 4 steals and Tom Floros pulled down 7 rebounds. Matt Wood of the Celtics popped in 9 points. A strong defensive game was led by Mitchell Stewart with 5 assists, Jack Lago with 4 steals, and Ben Payne with 10 rebounds. A good offensive and defensive game was played by the whole team.
Mavericks 37, Rebels 27 â Mavericks recovered from an 8-point deficit in the third quarter and pulled away in the fourth with a terrific press. Otto Kerler popped in 10 points and Wes Morlock added 9 points. Jack Bennedict grabbed 8 rebounds, Nick Strokis, 6 steals and Joe Calbo, 6 assists. Linden, Kerler, Morlock and Harrison keyed a great comeback for the Rebels. G. Rickets dropped in 18 points, while A. Rafferty added 6 points. Leading the defense were G. Buzzanca with 4 assists and 4 steals and G. Larnerd with 6 rebounds.
