*Following a two-month hiatus, THE ADULTS will return to Proud Mary’s this weekend with new originals along with new covers. The guys will be at 19 Main Street here in Newtown for a Friday night show, and Jim Sheridan promises the band will be “bright-eyed and bushy-tailed for sure!”

*Tickets go on sale Friday, February 26, for an electric show by HOT TUNA, with special guest Steve Earle, at The Shubert Theater in New Haven, on Friday, July 30.

Tickets are $45 to $55 and available at Shubert.com, by phone 800-228-6622 and the theater’s 247 College Street box office  (Monday through Friday 9:30 am to 5:30 pm, and Saturday 10 am to 2 pm).

*Also on sale Friday morning, at 10 am, will be tickets for REBA McENTIRE’s return to Mohegan Sun Arena on Friday, August 20. Those are $40 and $60, and will be available through TicketMaster vendors. Tickets will also be available through the casino’s box office beginning Saturday morning.

*Fellow country superstar ALAN JACKSON will also be at Mohegan Sun in short order. Jackson, who is hitting the road this spring to support his upcoming release Freight Train, will be in Uncasville on Friday, May 14, with special guests Josh Turner and Chris Young.

Tickets are $55 and $75 and will be on sale Friday at 10 through TicketMaster, and then also through the casino’s box office beginning 24 hours later.

*JP SHANNON will bring his ragtime, folk and blues to Mocha Coffee House this weekend, performing on Friday night from 8 to 10 pm at 3 Glen Road in Sandy Hook. Shannon has been performing for more than 39 years, is completely self taught, and, says this week’s note from Mocha, has a “warm solo acoustic sound [that] is perfect for the coffeehouse setting.”

Saturday’s music, also starting at 8 pm, will come courtesy of BILL DEVLIN & FRIENDS, who will be offering an evening of Irish and Irish-American music in the spirit of a traditional seisiun (that’s random musicians in a rough circle playing traditional music held in common).

Devlin, on wooden flute and whistle, will be joined by Andrew Carey on mandolin and voice and Nora Hanley on fiddle.

*HAT CITY BLUES BAND will be at LumberYard Pub in West Redding (Georgetown) this weekend, performing at 2 Main Street on Saturday night. The show should be getting underway around 9:15.

*THE DOUG WAHLBERG BAND is also performing locally this weekend. Doug and crew will be at The Georgetown Saloon, on Main Street in the Georgetown section of Redding, tonight starting around 9.

The guys also have shows scheduled at Molly Darcy’s in Danbury on Friday, March 12, and then at Foxwoods Casino’s Atrium on Friday and Saturday, March 26-27.

*The Anywhere Celebration Congregation, featuring two traveling musical ensembles, SAINT BERNADETTE and JOE ROBERTO & POVERTY HASH, will begin with a Sunday Mass at the Acoustic Cafe on Sunday, March 7.

Armed with call and response chants, hand claps, stomps, slide guitar and the divinely inspired but devil-charged energy of lead singers Meredith DiMenna and Joe Roberto, The Anywhere Celebration Congregation tour puts on a show that’s guaranteed to have the whole crowd speaking in tongues… at least the organizers promise that.

Find out for yourself next weekend.

Until next week, I’ll be seeing you… on the road.
