Food Tasting Competition

At Homesteads

The Homesteads at Newtown, 166 Mt Pleasant Road, welcomes the public to the Annual Food Tasting Competition, Thursday, March 4, at 2 pm.

The event will be hosted by Newtown First Selectman Patricia Llodra. Guest judges Captain Joe Rios of the Newtown Police Department, Scott Senette, vice president of Union Savings Bank in Danbury, Paulo Azevedo, benefits counselor for veterans in Danbury, and Dr Robert Grossman of Newtown will choose which of the participating chefs will be victorious. The food specialties, incorporating a “secret ingredient,” will be prepared by local restaurants including Armando’s and Tuscany of Bethel, Sal e Pepe and Mona Lisa of Newtown, and The Homestead’s Executive Chef Hector Velez.

Following judging, the public is invited to sample the culinary presentations. Each chef will provide a special pairing of wine with his or her signature dish.

Registration is required by calling 203-426-8118, no later than Wednesday, March 3.
