Evading Responsibility
At about 10:51 am on February 23, motorist Samuel Wolff, 20, of Bethel was driving a 1996 Honda Accord eastward on Meadow Brook Road, near South Main Street, when the vehicle slid into a utility pole along the right road shoulder during slippery driving conditions, according to Newtown police.
The vehicleâs airbags deployed in the impact, which damaged the utility pole, police said.
Wolff then left the scene of the accident after which he was found in Monroe by Monroe police, Newtown police said.
Newtown police charged Wolff with evading responsibility, making a restricted turn, and failure to carry an automotive insurance identification card. Police released Wolff on $100 bail for a March 9 court appearance.
