Newtowners Attend Westminster Kennel Clubâs Dog Show
The 134th Westminster Kennel Clubâs Dog Show, held February 15 and 16 at Madison Square Garden in New York, was attended by 2,500 entries with 173 breeds represented. It was also well attended by several Newtown dog aficionados, and students of the Parks and Recreations Canine Training Classes.
Despite the inclement weather, Scott and Lynn Kovackâs, Assistant Parks and Recreation director, Roseann Reggiano, Susan White, Mary Simpson and class instructors Dr Margaret A Reed and Patricia Fernandes traveled to Madison Square Garden to view the festivities of the most famed dog show in the world. Prior to the Best in Show event, the group attended a dinner hosted by Cornell Universityâs College of Veterinary Medicine and the James Baker Institute for Animal Health. Dr Reed was one of the keynote speakers who addressed the audience on what credentials are required to be a dog show judge and what it takes to receive an invitation to enter the show.
The next session of Newtown Parks and Recreation Canine Training classes was scheduled to begins on February 25. For additional information, call 203-270-4340.
