School Bus Drives Into Truck At

High School

A school bus leaving Newtown High School, while carrying 29 high school students on February 24, collided with a pickup truck, as the bus exited the school driveway, police said.

There were no injuries, according to police.

Police said that school bus driver LeReine Frampton, 52, of 6 Pebble Road, who was driving a 2001 International 3000-Series school bus, was exiting the school driveway at 12 Berkshire Road at about 2 pm and was making a right turn onto eastbound Berkshire Road, when the bus struck the rear end of an eastbound 2001 Ford F-250 pickup truck driven by Patrick Keough, 21, of 9 Beckett Village.

Police said that the 29 students on the bus were transferred to another school bus for transport home.

Frampton received a written warning for failure to grant the right of way, police said.
