The Winter Guard Says 'Thanks'
The Winter Guard Says âThanksâ
To the Editor:
The Newtown Varsity Color Guard would like to again thank local merchants who welcomed us into their stores during our second âShake a Canâ event two weeks ago. Our heartfelt thanks go out to The General Store, The Newtown Deli, and Stop & Shop. It warms our hearts to see the continued support that we have received from both the merchants and the residents of Newtown as we continue to raise funds to send our Guard to represent Newtown at the World Guard Championships in Dayton, Ohio, this April. Thank you also to those of you who purchased the homemade chocolate lollipops for our valentines fundraiser! The hearts and roses were well received and were delicious!
Many residents have inquired as to what the Varsity Winter Guard is all about. While we can explain the concept of Guard, it does not do these talented students justice. We encourage everyone to come see all of our talented Guards perform at our Home Show Winter Extravaganza, Saturday March 6, from 4 to 9 pm at Newtown High School. There will be 25 guards from three states performing and it is a great way to spend at Saturday night!
Thank you again for all your continued support! The Guard appreciates all you have done!
Kind Regards,
Joann Bissonnette and Cheryl Ghent
