Violinist & Pianist To Share The Stage
Newtown Friends of Music (NFoM) will sponsor a performance by the violinist Jennifer Stumm and the pianist Tom Poster on Sunday, March 14, at 3 pm. The concert will be in the auditorium of Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street in Newtown.
Violist Jennifer Stumm is internationally recognized as a musical innovator and dynamic advocate for her instrument. She has won a number of major competitions including Concert Artists Guild in 2006, where she was the first solo violist in the nearly 60-year history of the competition to win first prize; and the William Primrose and Geneva Competitions in 2005. That same year Ms Stumm was honored with an award from the Vriendenkrans of Amsterdamâs Concertgebouw.
Currently she divides her time between musical commitments in the US and Europe, where her recent mentors have been violist Nobuko Imai and cellist Steven Isserlis.
Pianist Tom Poster enjoys a busy and diverse career, appearing as concerto soloist, solo recitalist and chamber musician across an extensive repertoire in a range of major international venues.
The program for March 14 will include works by Rebecca Clarke, Benjamin Britten, traditional Catalan music, a jig by György Kurtag, a sonata by Heitor Villa Lobos, and will conclude with music by Franz Schubert.
Tickets are $20, with students grades K-12 admitted free of charge when accompanied by a ticket-holding adult. The box office at the town hall will open one hour before the start of the concert. Parking is free and plentiful behind Edmond Town Hall and the facility is handicap accessible.
An informal reception will follow the concert.
