For those who have been without power since the overnight hours of February 24-25, the latest update from Eversource is not exactly encouraging. As of 2 pm Thursday 6% of the town's customer base - 613 customers - were still without power, down from a high of 915 reported around 9 am Thursday. At 9:40 am Friday, however, the recovery effort had increased by just one percent. A statement from First Selectman Pat Llodra on February 26 asks residents to remain patient while work continues.additional crews scheduled for Newtown today and the company continues to state that power should be restored by the end of the day," Mrs Llodra continued. We are monitoring every circumstance, are aggressively seeking support from EverSource, and will update you as new information comes forth.

"At this point we remain with 5% outage with some roads still impassable because of wires/trees down," Mrs Llodra's statement said. "Public Works crews are fully deployed and are ready to do the road clearing as soon as the affected power lines are de-energized."

The Eversource online outage map at 9:50 am indicated the number was down to 4%, however, representing 421 homes or businesses still without power. Nevertheless, it means that the process for those waiting to have power restored following the recent weather incident appears to be going slowly.

"EverSource has 17

"As always, please use caution, and thank you for your patience," the first selectman's statement added. "I know this is frustrating and tests that patience to the limit. We are doing everything possible to expedite the recovery."
