DANBURY — Danbury Hospital Medical Town Meetings during the month of March focus on several important health care issues to inform about current advances in the prevention and treatment of colon cancer, medical ethics principles that will help patients navigate their way through a hospital stay, and the latest treatments in the care of disorders of the foot and ankle. The meetings are conducted from 7 to 8:30 pm.

*March 3: What Did You Say? Navigating Your Way Through a Hospital Stay — Members of Danbury Hospital’s Ethics Committee discuss focused principles related to ethical issues in health care (such as autonomy and informed consent) and how they can facilitate a patient’s hospital stay.

*March 10: Prevention and Treatment of Colon Cancer — Colorectal, oncology, and gastroenterology physician experts provide updates in the diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer and emphasize the importance of screening colonoscopy particularly for those age 50 or older.

*March 31: Comforting News About Advances in the Care of the Foot & Ankle — Board certified orthopedic surgeons from the Danbury Hospital Center for Advance Orthopedic Care, and a podiatrist team up to provide updates about current advances in the care of foot and ankle disorders. Specifically, they will discuss one of the more common symptoms of joint arthritis, which usually occurs in the first metatarsophalangeal joint, (aka Hallux Rigidus).

They also will address diagnosis and treatment of arthritis of the ankle and posterior tibial tendonitis.
