For 30 Years
Marion Holmes, 82, wife of the late Lewis C. Holmes, formerly of Newtown, died at the Masonic Health Care Center in Wallingford on February 22, following a lengthy illness.
Mrs Holmes was born in Mt Vernon, N.Y., July 27, 1924, daughter of Valentine Metz and Madeline (Henning) Metz Lane. She moved to Brookfield as a child and was a graduate of Danbury High School. Prior to her retirement, she had worked for more than 30 years as a secretary at the Dual-Lite Corporation in Newtown.
She is survived by two sons, Michael Holmes of Newtown and Thomas R. Holmes of Sarasota, Fla.; two daughters, Janet Nash of Virginia Beach, Va., and Linda Belliveau of Fitchburg, Mass.; a brother, Richard Lane of Brookfield; eleven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and her parents, Mrs Holmes was predeceased by a brother, Valentine Metz.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St Peter Church, Danbury, on February 28. Burial took place in St Peter Cemetery.
