Stuart âStuâ Headford, 66, of Stratford, died February 26 at Bridgeport Hospital. Mr Headford, a veteran of the US Navy, was born in Bridgeport to Virginia (Carlson) and Carl Headford of Stratford and had been a lifelong area resident.
Survivors in addition to his mother include his beloved wife, Alice Coursen Headford; his devoted daughters, Elisa, Sherrie, and Aimee, all of Newtown; five cherished grandchildren, Andrew, Jordan, Noah, Chelsea, and Joel; two sisters, Karen Daly of Waterbury and Nancy Headford of Stratford; and several nieces and nephews.
He was a retired plumber for the General Electric Company, was an active member of VFW Post 9460 and served as past commander, past State VFW commander, and was currently on the National VFW Board of Directors representing Connecticut and Rhode Island. He served his community and his country with great pride and was a very committed member of VFW Post 9460 where he was instrumental in the dealings with the Town of Stratford in having the address of the VFW Post changed to âVeterans Boulevard.â
Calling hours were scheduled for Thursday, March 1, from 4 to 7 pm, in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford. Interment with full military honors will be in New North Cemetery, Woodbury, in the spring.
