*THE POLICE have already gone 16 for 16 when theyâve put shows on sale for this reunion tour of theirs, and I have no doubt Connecticut will continue that trend when tickets go on sale Monday morning for a July 31 concert at Rentschler Field in East Hartford.
Fiction Plane will be opening this show.
Tickets will be available for $53, $93 and $228, with each of those price levels including$3 per ticket State of Connecticut surcharges. The tickets will be going on sale Monday, March 5, at 10 am, through LiveNation.com and TicketMaster outlets. The box office at Rentschler Field will only be open on the day of the show.
(For the record, John Voket was two for two on his predictions regarding this show. Two weeks ago my fellow editorâs forecast was that The Police would be playing in Connecticut between July 26 and August 5. He didnât specify the venue, so I canât fault him for not mentioning Rentschler Field specifically, and that means he was correct on the state and the bandâs timeframe for a performance here.)
*Speaking of JOHN VOKET (a few paragraphs back), heâll be on the road in Newtown again this weekend, returning to Proud Maryâs for the first of two shows there this month.
John will be performing, with pal Brendan Walsh on guitar, on Saturday, March 3, from 8:30 until 11:30 at the bar below The Inn at Newtown, and they duo will be returning to the same location on Saturday, March 24.
The next show in Johnâs âShining On for the CUREâ series will be Saturday, March 17. Slap down some green on St Pattyâs Day for John as he continues his Relay For Life luminaria fundraising efforts at Mocha Coffee House in Sandy Hook.
*HARRY CONNICK JR will be at The Chevrolet Theatre in Wallingford. Unfortunately I didnât hear about the on-sale for this show â which was Monday, February 26 â until well past last weekâs deadline. Sorry.
Tickets are $45.50 to $75.50 for this one, and available through the theaterâs box office and any TicketMaster vendor.
Itâll be the final show before young, handsome, wickedly talented Connick heads back to his hometown for a May 6 headlining performance in the 2007 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.
Already on sale are tickets for MEAT LOAF on April 10 ($35-$55), NORAH JONES on April 13 ($38-$58), and STEELY DAN on May 18 ($40-$70).
Until next week Iâll be seeing you... on the road.
