Newtown 40, Fairfield Heat 38 â David Lucia canned a layup with two seconds left to lift Newtown to the win. Lucia finished with 11 points while Taylor Steimle chipped in 12.
Boys 6th
Newtown 50, Ridgefield St. Maryâs 22 â Dan Hebert popped in 12 points and David Gerics added 11 as Newtown tuned up for the playoffs with a non-league win over St. Maryâs. Connor Quinn added nine points.
Newtown 65, Fairfield 31 â Kevin LeBlanc tossed in 13 points, Nick Gerbo added 12 and Dan Hebert contributed 11 as Newtown rolled past Fairfield for its 19th win of the season against just nine losses. The locals finished tied for first with Bethel at 10-1, but Newtown owns the head-to-head tiebreaker.
Boys 5th
Newtown 46, Fairfield 33 â After trailing at halftime, Newtown rallied for the win behind Bubba LeBlanc and his 13-point effort. Matt Mossbarger and Jonah Muniz scored 13 points and eight points, respectively, as Drew Tarantino, Grant Ricketts and Chase Wurtz made a number of strong defensive plays to lead the comeback.
Girls 5th
Bethel 23, Newtown 14 â Danielle Shine canned five points in a loss to Bethel. Jessie Principi and Jamison Fletcher had two points each while Jaclyn Daily drained a free throw.
