John F. Glynn

John F. Glynn, 72, husband of Shirley (Shannon) Glynn of Maple Drive, Sandy Hook, died unexpectedly February 20, while traveling to his home from Florida.

He was born in Milford on December 26, 1931, a son of the late John and Helen (Brown) Glynn. He graduated from Winthrop High School, Winthrop, Maine. He was a US Navy Veteran serving in Air Rescue. Mr Glynn was a sanitarian for the Naugatuck Health Department for many years until his retirement. He has been a resident of Sandy Hook since 1978.

Mr Glynn was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing, boating, and gardening. He had a special love for all his children, grandchildren, stepchildren, and the youngsters in the neighborhood.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a sister, Carol Mulholland of Manchester, Maine; his children, John Glynn and his wife Carol, Jamey Glynn and his wife Cindy, Jill Turner and her husband Scott, Janine Bessey and her husband Dallas, and Jo Ellen Sturgeon and her husband Al, and nine grandchildren, all of Maine.

He is also survived by his stepchildren, Maureen Manwaring and her husband Roger of Gaylordsville, William Cassidy and his wife Pam of New Milford, Shawne Cassidy of Norwalk, and David Cassidy of Aurora, Colo., and seven step-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services were held February 24 in the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. Interment will be in St Rose Cemetery in the spring.
