Blood Drive Rescheduled
For March 12
The Newtown community blood drive postponed due to this weekâs snowstorm has been rescheduled for Sunday, March 11, at the middle school on Queen Street from 8 am to 1:15 pm.
Volunteer blood donors who were scheduled to give blood on Monday, March 5, or Tuesday, March 6, were to be contacted during the week by the American Red Cross to reschedule their appointments for this blood drive, or for an upcoming blood drive of their choice. _All other eligible blood donors are urged to call 800-GIVE-LIFE (800-448-3543) to make an appointment to give blood at this or any other blood drive in Connecticut.
Volunteer blood donors are needed in the aftermath of this powerful snowstorm in order to prevent a blood shortage at Connecticutâs 33 transfusing hospitals. This snowstorm has caused the postponement of all blood drives in Connecticut on March 5 and 6, resulting in the loss of approximately 1,100 units of blood.
Information about the drives also may be found at the blood services Web site at www.bloodct.org.
Most healthy people who are 17 years old and who weigh 110 pounds or more are eligible to give blood.
