Muriel B. Strople, 90, died at 2 pm on March 4 at Bridgeport Hospital.
A gentle soul who dedicated her long life to helping others, she will be missed by all who knew her. She was born in Bridgeport on October 23, 1910, the second daughter of Alexandrina Wilson and John Burn, and later christened and baptized Muriel Susan Clarke Burn at the United Congregational Church in Bridgeport. After completing her primary and secondary education in Bridgeport schools, she attended Russell Sage College in Troy, N.Y., and Butler Business School in New Haven.
On October 20, 1931, she was married at the United Congregational Church in Bridgeport to Everett Norman Strople of Fairfield. They lived for many years in Easton, where she was active in the local Girl Scout Troop, Cub Scouts, and the PTA. She also worked as a supervisor for Vitramon Corporation in Monroe as an executive secretary and office manager for Community Club Awards of Westport until retiring in 1972.
She had three children from her marriage, a daughter, Sally Ann Weinschel (predeceased), a son, Peter Burn Strople of Westport and a second daughter, Elizabeth Jayne Lucas of Fairfield. In addition to two of her children and six grandchildren, Muriel is also survived by her brother-in-law, Hubert H. Schwerdtle of Southbury; and her nephews, John B. Schwerdtle of Easton and Edward S. Schwerdtle of Roxbury and their families.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Interment will be in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport.
