Lockwood Lodge

Earns National Accreditation

Lockwood Lodge, the assisted living residence on the campus of Ashlar of Newtown, has received accreditation by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) as a result of its demonstrated compliance with the Joint Commission’s nationally recognized health care standards. Lockwood Lodge is the first Fairfield County assisted living residence to achieve this honor.

A Joint Commission representative spent two days reviewing Lockwood Lodge’s nursing care, physical environment, recreational and therapeutic programs, and a number of other areas affecting the quality of patient care. The national standards are intended to stimulate continuous, systematic, and organization-wide improvement in an organization’s performance and the outcomes of care, according to the Joint Commission.

Tom Gutner, president of Ashlar of Newtown and Lockwood Lodge, praised the facility’s entire staff in meeting the Joint Commission’s arduous benchmarks of quality. “Accreditation is proof of our organization-wide commitment to providing quality care on an ongoing basis,” said Mr Gutner.

Formed in 1951, the Joint Commission is dedicated to improving the quality of the nation’s healthcare delivery system through voluntary accreditation.

Lockwood Lodge is a 43 unit assisted living residence that offers a multitude of services in a safe residential environment to promote individuality, foster independence, and encourage older adults to live their lives to the fullest.
