Genealogy Club To Meet

âEastern European Family History: A Focus on Polish, Ukrainian and Russian Genealogyâ will be the topic presented by Matthew Bielawa at the Genealogy Club of Newtownâs March 14 meeting at 7 pm in C.H. Booth Libraryâs meeting room.
Born in Bridgeport, Mr Bielawa is associate registrar at Central Connecticut State University. He currently serves as vice president of the Polish Genealogical Society of Connecticut and the Northeast.
He earned a BA degree in Slavic and East European Studies from the University of Connecticut and a MA degree in Slavic Languages and Literatures from New York University. His web page, Genealogy of Halychyna (Western Ukraine) and Eastern Galicia, is devoted to his region of research specialization. Mr Bielawa has visited the Ukraine, Poland, and Russia, including a semester study at Leningrad State University.
The Genealogy Club of Newtown meets the second Wednesday of each month at the C.H. Booth Library. The public is welcome to attend. For further information call Mary Maki at 417-6271.
