Master Chorale Returning

To St Rose For Winter Concert

The Connecticut Master Chorale, under the direction of Tina Johns Heidrich, will present its winter concert on Sunday, March 11, at 3 pm, at St Rose of Lima Church in Newtown.

The program will feature works by the Welsh composer Karl Jenkins, including Adiemus and his newly released Requiem. Although he first made his mark writing music for television advertisements, Mr Jenkins is so well known in Europe and the UK that Dame Kiri Te Kanawa’s latest CD, devoted exclusively to his compositions and arrangements, is titled simply Kiri Sings Karl.

The advertising portion of his career will be represented by Adiemus, used here in the US as the soundtrack for a Delta Airlines commercial, and Diamond Music, written for an advertisement promoting DeBeers diamonds.

Also on the program is Bless Ye the Lord (Benedicite), by Ralph Vaughan Williams, the most noted English composer of the 20th Century. From the jubilant opening “Bless Ye the Lord” to the final “Praise Him and Magnify Him Forever,” Bless Ye the Lord is a powerful exultation of praise.

The Chorale will be joined by soprano Louise Fauteux and accompanied by The Connecticut Master Chorale Orchestra.

Newtown residents in the Master Chorale are Ginnie Carey, Lisa Cedergren, Wendy Fong, Pia Ledina, Nancy Raymond, Grant Skinner and Dan Yee.

Tickets are $18 in advance or $23 at the door. For more information, call 743-0473 or visit CMChorale.org.
