What do you like to do in your free time? Right now Iâm taking a Mandarin Chinese course from June King and next month Iâll be taking sexual assault and domestic violence training to be a hotline volunteer with the Womenâs Center of Greater Danbury. And Iâm an avid reader.
Do you have a favorite author? Dennis LeHane, who wrote Shutter Island, and Sarah Grune, who wrote Water For Elephants.
Do you have a favorite travel destination? We like the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The sand and ocean there are wonderful. Itâs so warm and the water temperature is perfect. Weâve sat through a hurricane there, but I would still go back.
What is the best thing about Newtown? The people and the natural beauty. Everyone here is so warm and welcoming. Itâs really refreshing.
Who do you most admire? My parents. Theyâve been happily married for 55 years and they are each otherâs best friend. They instilled in their three daughters a sense of family.
Do you have a philosophy? Donât pass up the opportunity to tell people you care about them, because you might not get the chance to again. Also, you can do anything if you put your mind to it.
Do you have a favorite memory? Right before 9/11, our family went on vacation to Syracuse Lake with two other families. From the first day to the last day the 14 of us did everything together and laughed like we had never done before. Then 9/11 happened and the following weekend we all had dinner together. Two of the people had gotten out of the World Trade Center building on 9/11, so we had so much to be grateful for, that we were all together.
