Police report a two-vehicle accident on Sweet Briar Lane at its intersection with Jeremiah Road during rainy conditions about 8:40 am March 2.
In that accident, motorist James Culver, 36, of Danbury, who was driving a 1998 International 4000 truck southward on Sweet Briar Lane, struck the rear end of a southbound 2004 Honda Pilot driven by Dawn Coughlin, 45, of 12 Sweet Briar Lane, police said. When the accident occurred, the Honda was stopped at a stop sign.
There were no injuries. Culver received a written warning for following too closely.
Icy Conditions
Motorist Maxwell Beaudry, 19, of Brookfield, who was driving a 2004 Ford pickup truck southward near 36 Currituck Road about 8:18 am March 3, attempted to take a curve in the road, but lost control of the vehicle on the icy pavement and went off the left side of the street, striking a tree broadside, after which the truck reentered the road, police said.
Beaudry was not injured. Police verbally warned Beaudry for traveling at a speed too fast for conditions.
Burglary/Larceny
Police are investigating a crime that occurred early on the morning of March 6 at Hilarioâs Variety Store at 131 Mt Pleasant Road (Route 6).
Sometime between 1 and 1:50 am, someone threw a large rock through the glass panel on the front door of the convenience store to gain entry, police said. The burglar then stole numerous packs of various brands of cigarettes. A loss estimate was not available.
