The St. Rose junior varsity girls basketball team concluded the season by finishing third at the Greater Danbury Parochial League Tournament this past weekend at Immaculate High School in Danbury.
Taylor Brady, who was named to the all-tournament team, led the way for St. Rose.
In the opening round, St. Rose defeated St. Maryâs of Bethel, 30-13. Adrianna Mihalek and Julia Davis, the twin tower tandem who cleaned the glass with ferocity throughout the tournament, dominated in the paint scoring 10 and six points, respectively. Gabrielle DeBartolomeo scored four points and Emily Clark added two.
Playing shorthanded in the second round due to unforeseen conflicts, the locals fell to St. Josephâs of Brookfield, 23-14. Julie LaPerch played a solid all-around game as Meagan Foy, Kathryn DâAlessandro and Katherine Clark all stepped up their games and provided solid contributions off the bench.
St. Rose then slipped past St. Josephâs of Danbury, 15-10, to take third. Brady (aka âSue Birdâ) was all over the floor and filled the scorebook with a line of two points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals. Bridget Power (aka âDiana Taurasiâ) posted a gem of her own with six points, 10 rebounds and three steals.
