Police report they saw motorist Peter A. Lucas, 31, of Danbury, driving erratically northbound on South Main Street about 7:20 pm March 9. Police observed Lucas cross the roadâs center line and enter the southbound lane. Police said they stopped Lucas and gave him field sobriety tests, which he failed. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to drive to the right on a curve, and failure to carry a driverâs license.
After processing, police released Lucas on bond for a March 23 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Deer Struck
Motorist Thomas A. Morrisey, 48, of 61 Osborne Hill Road, Sandy Hook, who was driving a 1989 Ford Bronco westbound on Mile Hill Road near Mile Hill Road South, struck a deer on the night of March 6, police said.
Morrissey was not injured. Police took no enforcement action.
Hattertown Hit-And-Run
Police said motorist Marcio J. Ventura, 45, of Bridgeport, who was driving a 1987 Toyota Supra on Hattertown Road about 12:45 pm March 4, was struck on the left side by a black pickup truck which was attempting to pass the Toyota.
The impact caused the Toyota to strike guard cabling on the right road shoulder, police said. The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported Ventura to the hospital for the treatment of head and shoulder injuries, police said.
The pickup truckâs driver fled the scene of the crash, according to police.
Police issued Ventura a summons on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, and failure to renew a motor vehicle registration.
Deli Break-In
Police report a burglary and larceny occurred about 2:45 am March 6 at Thomasâs Deli on Berkshire Road in Sandy Hook.
Someone broke into the convenience store and stole 75 cartons of cigarettes and $30 in cash, police said. Police ask anyone with information about the crime to contact them.Â
