ak/gs set 3/6 #730898

BALTIMORE, MD. — An exhibition of 28 prints and two related small-scale sculptures at the Baltimore Museum of Art (BMA) through March 30, reveals how printmakers imbued two-dimensional works with as much grandeur as their three-dimensional counterparts to elevate printmaking as an art form.

“Printed Sculpture/Sculpted Prints” features images from some of the most famous classical and Renaissance sculptures in Europe, such as a pair of woodcuts showing Giambologna’s “Rape of the Sabines,” and the delicate but powerful renderings of Michelangelo’s early “Pieta” and his late “Lamentation.”

Students from The Johns Hopkins University worked closely with the BMA to produce the exhibition, acting as curators, designers, educators and marketers for the project.

The BMA is at 10 Art Museum Drive. For information, www.artbma.org or 443-573-1870.
