Barbara âBobbieâ McClellan, 83, of Ridgefield, died March 4 at Danbury Hospital.
Ms McClellan was born in Mt Vernon, N.Y., December 11, 1920, a daughter of Vernon and Josephine (Pomeroy) McClellan.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen M. and Richard Polverari of Newtown; a sister, Virginia Moskowitz of Salisbury; a granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Stephanie and Robert Brawn of Bristol, R.I.; a grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Scott and Jill Cee Polverari of Southington; two great-grandchildren, David and Jessica Brawn; a niece and several nephews.
She was predeceased by her twin sister, Beatrice Ludwig.
Ms McClellan attended Mt Vernon schools and graduated from the Packard Business School of New York City.
A World War II US Marine Corps veteran stationed in San Diego, she assisted in the processing of troops returning from Iwo Jima.
A resident of Ridgefield since 1956, coming from Mt Vernon, she worked as a bank teller, bookkeeper, and travel agent.
An avid bowler for over 60 years, she served in various capacities with the Greater Danbury Womenâs Bowling Association, and was inducted into Danbury Bowling Hall of Fame.
Ms McClellan was a volunteer with the Girl Scouts of America and the Danbury chapter of the American Red Cross. A member of St Stephenâs Episcopal Church of Ridgefield, she was a former member of its choir.
Funeral services took place on March 8 in St Stephenâs Episcopal Church, Ridgefield. Interment took place in the crypt of St Stephenâs Church.
