Colorectal Cancer Program

March 10

WATERBURY — Waterbury Hospital’s Evergreen Club 50, a regional wellness organization for mature adults, will host “Colorectal Cancer: Preventable, Beatable, Treatable!” from 2 to 4 pm on March 10 in the hospital’s Bizzozero Conference Room.

Physician Bhupinder Lyall, MD, and members of the hospital’s gastrointestinal staff will present this session, which will focus on the relationship between diet, nutrition, exercise, and colorectal cancer.

“Colorectal cancer, or cancer of the colon or rectum, affects both men and women equally,” said Heather Clinger, coordinator of community health education at the hospital.

“It is most often found in people age 50 and older, and the risk of getting colorectal cancer increases with age. If everyone over age 50 has regular screenings exams, many cases could be prevented,” she said.

Registration is required as space is limited. Call the Evergreen office at 203-573-7385. A $5 donation at the door to Evergreen Club 50 is suggested.
