Healing Grief Seminar At St Vincent’s

BRIDGEPORT — St Vincent’s Pastoral Care Department is presenting a “Healing Grief Seminar” on Thursday, March 18, from 6 to 7:30 pm, in the Seton Room located on the cafeteria level of the medical center. The program is free and open to the general public.

The program is for people experiencing grief following the death of a loved one. According to Dennis McCann, director of pastoral care at St Vincent’s, the presentation describes the natural grieving experience, and offers resources and recommendations that might be helpful during this stressful time.

Following the seminar, participants will be invited to sign-up for professionally facilitated small support groups. Groups will begin to meet the week after the seminar and continue for seven consecutive weeks.

“Opportunities are provided during the group sessions to explore and share one’s own unique grief journey,” according to Dr McCann. Support group size is limited.

Individuals may choose to attend the support group meetings later; however, no commitment to join the support group is necessary to attend the “Healing Grief” seminar.

Free parking is available.

Dennis McCann holds a PhD in humanities and has extensive experience in helping people through the process of grief. He is also an adjunct professor at Sacred Heart University, and has many years of experience giving presentations and facilitating groups based on a variety of themes.
