J. Robert        Smith, Sr
J. Robert Smith, Sr, 80, died on March 3 in Candler Hospital. He was the father of Robert Smith, Jr and Scott Smith of Newtown.
The Bergenfield, N.J., native had lived in Savannah, Ga., since 1988. He served as a pilot in the US Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theater during World War II and was a 1945 graduate of Cornell University. He was a retired business executive and was a member of The Exchange Club of Trumbull and The Landings Club.
His wife, Patricia E. Smith, preceded him in death.
In addition to his sons Mr Smith is survived by a daughter, Cindy Parker, of Litchfield, N.H.; and grandchildren J.R. Smith, Allison Smith, Lindsay Parker, Lori Parker, and Kimberly Parker.
A Memorial Service was held March 6 in Skidaway Island Presbyterian Church, Savannah, Ga., with the Rev Dr John Wall officiating.
