Bid On The Bountiful Basket Of Your Choice

Enjoy the sight of whimsical and beautiful gift items, taste fine wine from Spain, sample hors d’oeuvres and sip champagne while deciding which one of 12 gourmet baskets you want to bid on.

Or decide to bid on all 12 baskets, and cross your fingers.

All will be possible at the upcoming Newtown Woman’s Club (GFWC) Silent Auction scheduled for Saturday, March 20, at C.H. Booth Library. The club invites all interested Newtown residents to attend.

Titled “Beautiful Baskets and Beautiful Things,” the woman’s club’s first such event will offer a dozen specialty baskets for bid, including a children’s basket, an arts and crafts basket, a Mexican gourmet basket, and a basket of goodies for the garden.

Besides the wine tasting, which is available compliments of Yankee Wine & Spirits next to the Big Y, there will be music by Newtown’s own guitarist Peter Obre.

The event will take place in the library’s lower meeting room between 4 and 7 pm.

Tickets are $5 per person, and all proceeds will be used to benefit local social services and community organizations.
