How Long in Newtown: I was born and bred in Botsford, and I graduated from Newtown High School in 1997.
Biggest Change youâve seen in town: I remember when Sand Hill Plaza wasnât there. I remember the âCrossroads Store,â which was a favorite place to go when we were growing up. I remember the Pasta Fresca restaurant and Faeto Deli, where I used to stand at the window and watch them make pasta. Now thatâs all gone, but my friend Conrad still lives just around the corner from there, so I guess some things stay the same.
Family: My grandpa, Steve Tozser, my mom, Priscilla Vayan, and I all live within five minutes of each other. My brothers, Rob and Eddie, are both in the Coast Guard. My sister, Priscilla, is a stylist at Dawnâs Pizazz, and another sister, Charlene, owns a barbershop in Monroe on Route 111.
Pets: My horses are my life. Iâve loved horses since I was 6. I ride them all the time, and I used to ride on trails behind where we live, before a subdivision went in. Talk about change in Newtown, Iâve seen it all. When I was growing up, I worked as an apprentice for Kurt Schneider, who owned Toddy Hollow Farm. At 13, I earned enough money to buy Jubilee, my first horse. First I had to build a fence to keep her. Now my farm is called Jubilee Hollow Farm. I also have Storm, a big black Percheron mare, who is lots of fun. Sheâs a big ox. And I have Mister, who is a miniature horse. I also have two dogs, a wolf husky mix named Myatuk, and a husky named Daisy Duke.
Favorite Music and Movie: I love to go hear the local bands. We go to Toadâs Place in New Haven, or Tuxedo Junction on Ives Street, Danbury. I loved the movies Seabiscuit and You Got Served.
Most Vivid Memory About Newtown: Some of my best memories are of the major keg parties we used to have down Yogananda Road and Old Mill Road. Now itâs all new houses where there used to be fields. My favorite meeting spot was St Rose Cemetery.
Favorite Vacation Spot: At home, my favorite place to go is The Pizza Palace on Church Hill Road â great food, great people and very friendly. If I travel, I like to go to Tennessee or Texas. I may actually move to Tennessee some day. I absolutely love it there.
Personal Philosophy: Believe nothing of what you hear, half of what you see, and all of what you experience for yourself.
