Women’s Creativity Conference

HAMDEN — Author and humorist Regina Barreca will deliver the keynote address, “Running Wild: The Importance of Humor to Women’s Creativity,” at the 10th annual Women’s Creativity Conference at Quinnipiac University at 9:30 am on Saturday, March 20.

Regina Barreca is the author of the best-selling book They Used to Call Me Snow White, But I Drifted (now in its 19th printing) and six other books.

From 11 am to 12:15 pm there will be three concurrent workshops, “The Personal(ity) is Political: Women, Politics, and the Media”;  “Biophyllic Lives in a Patriarchal World: 27 Years of Food, Fun, and Feminism”; and “Women’s Visions for Educational Leadership.”

Following lunch “Take a Letter Darling: Women, Work, and the Celluloid Ceiling” is a lecture about women in film by Marjorie Rosen, visiting assistant professor of journalism and author of Popcorn Venus.

From 2:45 to 4 pm there will be two concurrent workshops: “Designing Women” features work by potter Anita Griffith and jewelry designer Nancy Karpel, and “Timeless Stories in a Changing World: Conceptualizing the Classics.”

Registration begins at 8:45 am in the Clarice L. Buckman Center lobby. Registration by March 12, including a continental breakfast and lunch, is $25 for adults, $20 for senior citizens and $15 for college students with a valid ID. Registration at the door is $30 for all. Quinnipiac students can register for free.
