Jazz Camp At Fairfield University
FAIRFIELD â The popular jazz camp at Fairfield University, for high school and college-age students, returns this summer from Wednesday, July 5 through Sunday, July 9.
Directed by renowned bassist and composer Brian Torff, the camp offers classes and workshops in jazz improvisation, theory, rhythm and world music, history of jazz and jazz arranging and compositions. On July 9, the week will culminate with students performing in concert.
Excepted guest faculty include trombone player John Fumasoli, who will offer music theory and ensembles; Chuck Fisher, saxophone and jazz improvisation; drummer Grisha Alexiev, with drums workshop and ensemble coaching; George Nah, guitar; and Rob Paparozzi, blues harmonica classes.
Students at the camp will have access to the universityâs resources and facilities, including the recreational complex with a 25-meter pool and racquetball and tennis courts. They will be housed in air-conditioned, double accommodation dormitory rooms with meals served three times a day. Evenings will be spent at concerts, jam sessions, movies and more.
