Fred S. Wheeler
Fred S. Wheeler, 85, husband of the late Margaret (Hyland) Wheeler of Lehigh Acres, Fla., formerly of Newtown, died March 9 in Mediplex of Southbury.
Mr Wheeler was born in Walpole, Mass., April 5, 1914, son of the late Fred and Flora (Jensen) Wheeler. He had lived in Newtown for 25 years prior to moving to Florida 20 years ago. For many years he had been employed as an attendant at Southbury Training School. Following his retirement from the Training School, Mr Wheeler owned and operated a school bus in Newtown.
During World War II, he served in the US Army and participated in the Rhineland and Ardennes battles.
He is survived by three sons, Edward Wheeler and Dennis Wheeler of Lehigh Acres, Fla., and Gary Wheeler of Newtown. He is also survived by one daughter, Kaaren Nalewaik, of Lehigh Acres, Fla., and 11 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Lee Memorial Park Funeral Home, Lehigh Acres, Fla.
Local arrangements were by Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.
