GOP Offers Summer Internships
The Newtown Republican Town Committee will sponsor eligible students to attend Connecticut Republican Week in Washingtonâs Summer 20001 Junior Internship Program.
The RTC will pay half of the studentsâ cost of attending the program. This program enables young, politically minded students to discover first-hand what it means to be a good Republican and an involved and engaged citizen of the United States.
Housing for the first session will be at Georgetown University. The second and third sessions will be at George Washington University. Breakfasts and dinners are included. All transportation to, in, and from Washington will be via motor coach. The itinerary of the program is still to be set, but it will provide an up close and personal view of Washington, D.C., and our elected officials.
To be eligible, a student must be a Connecticut resident and be entering junior or senior year of high school in the fall of 2001. The session dates are June 17 through 22, June 24 through 29, and July 8 through 13. The studentâs cost is $275. The deadline for applying is March 31.
