Romantic Reveries For Choral Society Benefit Concert

From Brahms to Broadway, the 4th Annual Connecticut Choral Society Benefit Concert will be sure to give listeners a preview of spring, a time for new beginnings and romance through music.

CCS invites music lovers of all ages to the Alexandria Room at Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street in Newtown, on Saturday, April 7, for an evening of romantic reveries performed by the pianist Joseph J. Jacovino and tenor Ciro Franco. The benefit concert will begin at 8 pm.

Mr Franco has appeared in productions throughout Connecticut and New York. His repertoire ranges from the Bel Canto style of opera and religious and wedding music to popular and show tunes.  In addition to singing, the Waterbury native has also directed, produced, and choreographed numerous high school and community theatre productions.

Mr Franco’s recent roles include Uncle Archibald in The Secret Garden, the Wazir in Kismet and Colonel Pickering in My Fair Lady.  By profession, he is a teacher of Spanish and Italian at Bethel High School.

Mr Jacovino has been the director of music at Holy Cross High School in Waterbury for over twenty years.  A native of Waterbury, he holds a bachelor of music from Hartt School of Music, University of Hartford in piano, and received a masters in music education from the Manhattan School of Music.

Mr Jacovino is also the organist/choir director at St Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Newtown, an adjunct faculty member at Naugatuck Valley Community Technical College, the director of NVCTC Jazz Band, and is a member of Waterbury Symphony Orchestra.

Tickets are $25. Call 800-555-5250 or 203-263-7603 for reservations.
