Credit Card

Police report they arrested a 17-year-old girl on 11 criminal charges in connection with the alleged theft of a credit card.

After receiving a complaint on February 2, police investigated and obtained an arrest warrant for the youth. After learning that police held that warrant, the girl turned herself over to police on the afternoon of March 5 and was charged with one count of theft of a credit card, five counts of illegal use of a credit card, one count of fifth-degree larceny, and four counts of sixth-degree larceny.

The credit card was illegally used at multiple Danbury businesses, police said. Following processing, police released the girl on $100 bail for a March 20 appearance in Danbury Youthful Offender Court. Because the defendant is under age 18, their identity is shielded by state law.

Police said that another arrest is expected in the case. 

Disturbance

Police report that at about 9:28 am on February 27, they were dispatched to a medical office building at 54 South Main Street to handle a public disturbance there.

An unidentified volunteer emergency medical technician for the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps and motorist John F. Gnerre, 55, of 25 Marlin Road had become involved in a dispute over parking in the parking lot there, police said. Gnerre left the scene before police arrived. There were no injuries.

The ambulance had responded to that address for a medical call, police said.

Later that day, Gnerre went to the police station where police issued him an infraction on a charge of creating a public disturbance. The infraction, which carries a $103 fine, is appealable in court.

Found Items

Police are seeking the owners of some found items which they are holding for safekeeping.

On February 20, a Hewlett-Packard computer printer was mistakenly delivered to a Fox Run Lane home after the device was serviced. Police are holding the printer so that its unknown owner may retrieve it.

Also, on February 8, two girls’ bicycles were found abandoned at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Pearl Street. One bike is blue and the other is purple. The bikes also are being held by police.

The owners may claim the items by contacting Sergeant Darlene Froehlich at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 426-5841.

Pickup Vs SUV

About 1:41 pm March 6, motorist Kevin Butler, 46, of Southbury was driving a 2002 Toyota 4-Runner SUV southward on South Main Street, when motorist Bertrand Ouellette, 73, of 55 Bear Hills Road, who was driving a 2002 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck, began to pull out of the driveway at 124 South Main Street to head southward on the street, according to police.

The two vehicles collided. Butler reported pain after the collision, but refused an ambulance, according to police. Ouellette received an infraction on a charge of failure to grant the right of way, police said.

 

Rock On Road

Motorist Romilda Anderson, 70, of 9 Ox Hill Road, who was driving a 2002 Subaru Outback station wagon northward near 89 Brushy Hill Road about 3:30 pm March 7, drove over a rock lying on the road, but the vehicle’s clearance was insufficient, resulting the Subaru’s undercarriage striking the top of the rock, according to police.

There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.

Hundred Acres Road

About 4:26 am March 7, motorist Jonathan Fermin, 23, of Bethel was driving a 1997 Toyota RAV-4 SUV southward on Hundred Acres Road, when while attempting to avoid a deer, he lost control of the vehicle, resulting in the Toyota sliding off the northbound road shoulder, striking an embankment and then turning over onto its side, police report.

Fermin was not injured. Police issued him a written warning for failure to drive to the right.

Slippery Street

While traveling northward near 271 South Main Street about 1:39 pm March 2, motorist Christopher Stephenson, 46, of Stamford, who was driving a commercial 2003 Chevrolet Impala sedan, lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a curve and went into a spin, striking a fence on the right side of the street, police said.

Neither Stephenson, nor four passengers, were injured, police said. Police issued him a written warning for making a restricted turn.

Rambler

Motorist Jill Craig, 54, of Southbury was driving a 1968 Rambler American southward near 128 Boggs Hill Road about 10:34 am March 1, when while attempting to take a curve in the road, she skidded off the right side of the street, striking a utility pole, police said. Craig was not injured, police said. Craig received a verbal warning for traveling too fast for conditions, according to police.

SUV Vs Van

Police report that about 11:49 am March 6, motorist Amanda Monaco, 52, of 1 Beckett Village, who was driving a 2007 Honda Pilot SUV, was waiting at a stop sign on northbound Grays Plain Road, as motorist Edward Martino, 43, of Orange was driving a 1994 Ford F-250 van on the intersecting Berkshire Road.

The Honda then entered the intersection to drive across Berkshire Road, but the Honda and the Ford collided, police said. There were no injuries. Monaco received a written warning for failure to grant the right of way, police said.

South Main Street

Motorist Megan Pendagast, 18, of 97 Turkey Hill Road, who was driving a 2001 Saab 9-5 sedan westward on Peck’s Lane, stopped at a stop sign at that road’s intersection with South Main Street, as motorist Christopher Monaco, 34, of Brookfield was driving a 2007 Chevrolet HHR SUV northward on South Main Street at about 3:26 pm March 4, police said.

The Saab then pulled out onto South Main Street and collided with the Chevrolet, police said. There were no injuries. Police said they issued Pendagast a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.

DUI Arrest

State police report that at about 8:40 pm March 7, they stopped motorist Margaret Mary Marxmeyer, 43, of Hartsdale, N.Y., for driving 90 miles per hour in a 65-mph zone on westbound Interstate 84.

After investigating, state police said they charged her with driving under the influence and with reckless driving. State police said they released her on $1,000 bail for a March 25 court appearance.

DUI Charge

State police said that at about 12:39 am on March 5, they stopped motorist Scott Schroder, 40, of Danbury to investigate on westbound Interstate 84, about one mile east of Exit 9.

After investigating, state police said they charged Schroder with driving under the influence. Bail and court information was not available.

Drug Arrests

State police report that they stopped motorist Shawn Gartland, 33, of Danbury about 4 pm March 2, after Gartland had pulled out onto Interstate 84 from its right shoulder and almost caused a collision with another vehicle.

After investigating, police charged Gartland with possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, and with making an unsafe lane change.

State police charged Gartland’s passenger, Michelle Falco, 40, of Waterbury, with possession of narcotics.

Both are scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on March 16.

 

Highway Crash

About 11:24 am March 6, motorist Valdir Nascimento, 49, of Danbury was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt eastward on Interstate 84, near Exit 11, when Nascimento lost control of the auto, went off the right road shoulder and struck a section of a bridge, state police said.

Nascimento reported chest pain, but refused medical attention, according to state police. Enforcement information was not available.

Corolla Accident

Motorist Marc Lividini, 35, of Bethel, who was driving a 2009 Toyota Corolla eastward on Interstate 84, west of Exit 10, skid on the wet pavement and lost control of the vehicle, leaving the road and striking several small trees about 7:44 am March 6, state police report.

Ambulance staffers transported Lividini to Danbury Hospital be treated for pain, state police said. Enforcement information was not available.

Ramp Collision

Motorist Eliana Alickolli, 20, of Hamden was driving a 2004 Nissan Maxima on eastbound Interstate 84’s Exit 10 on-ramp at about 11 pm March 5, when she lost control of the auto, spun about and struck some guard cables, state police said. There were no injuries. Enforcement information was not available.

Church Hill Road

Motorist Liliana Dushi, 27, of 16 Johnny Appleseed Drive was driving a 2005 Chrysler Town & Country minivan westward on Church Hill Road and then stopped and was waiting to make a left turn into the driveway at 46 Church Hill at about 12:15 pm March 5, when the Chrysler was struck from behind by westbound motorist Alan Smith, 50, of 39 Pole Bridge Road, who was driving a 1999 Lexus RX-300 SUV, according to police.

There were no injuries. Police said they gave Smith a written warning for following too closely.

DUI Charge

Police said that at about 9:18 pm on March 10, they stopped motorist Aleta Osborne, 42, of Trumbull on Mt Pleasant Road for making a traffic violation.

Police said that after investigating, they charged Osborne with driving under the influence and with failure to drive to the right.

Following arrest processing, police released Osborne on $100 bail for a March 24 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Mercedes Vs Pole

Police report that a motorist was driving a 1985 Mercedes-Benz 380 sedan northward on South Main Street, just north of Ricky’s Shopping Plaza, about 12:05 am March 7, when the auto went off the right side of the street and struck a utility pole.

Witnesses told police that the driver then left the scene on foot, heading southward on South Main Street.

Police, who are investigating the incident, said the vehicle is owned by a Sandy Hook man. Police ask anyone with information on the incident to contact them at 426-5841.

Sports Car

Motorist John Gonda, 57, of Bethel was driving a 2000 Honda S-2000 sports car westward on Dodgingtown Road, near its intersection with Karen Boulevard, about 3:17 am March 7, when the auto went off the right side of the road and collided with a utility pole, police said.

Gonda was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured, police said. Police issued him an infraction for making a restricted turn.

Probation

Police said they arrested Donald Brelling, 47, of New Milford on a warrant on the evening of March 11, charging him with violation of probation in connection with a 2005 case.

Police released Brelling on $1,000 bail for a March 25 court appearance.

Warrant

After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, David Fuselier, 49, of Brookfield turned himself over to police at the police station on the night of March 11 and was arrested on charges of second-degree failure to appear in court, driving while under suspension, and failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

The original motor vehicle charges stem from a January 24 incident on Currituck Road, according to police.

Police released Fuselier on $500 bail for a March 25 court appearance.
