Driverâs License Renewals
Soon At AAA
DANBURY â Renewing a driverâs license is soon to become more convenient for many of the stateâs 2.6 million license holders who make the trek every four years to a Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) office. Soon they will be able to go to one of 15 AAA offices statewide that may be near where they live, work, or shop.
The AAA offices will bring the total number of offices, including those staffed by the DMV, to 35 statewide that will offer photo-license renewals. In addition, DMV has three mobile units that travel on a periodic schedule to a limited number of towns and cities.
Eight AAA offices already offered the service and additional ones have been added in Hamden, Stratford, Branford, and Orange.
Four additional AAA offices will be offering the service in several months. Those are in Stratford, Westport, Waterbury, and Danbury. Connecticut motorists will be able to walk into any of these offices with their driverâs license, renewal application form, and either a check or cash. No appointment will be necessary. Because these offices are not staffed with DMV employees, commercial driver licenses, licenses with a public passenger endorsement, or any requiring a name change cannot be processed at the AAA facilities.
